A BICYCLE PARABLE FOR THE TIME
OF THE END
God designed the book of Revelation for the benefit of the last generation; to those who will be living through the end-times. These, I believe, will be you and me.
The Bicycle Parable demonstrates that without an adequate understanding of both the Old and New Testaments many of the mysteries of the book of Revelation will remain a mystery. End Times can only be properly understood if placed in the context of World History as revealed through the Bible - from the beginning of the creation through to the end. We need to understand God's Grand Plan for mankind. This means that we need to understand the calendar that He follows. Its no mystery. He has revealed it in the Bible if we choose to look by asking the right questions.
As the Lord was revealing this to me God likened the back wheel of a bicycle to the Old Testament and the front wheel to the New Testament. The back wheel propels the bike forward, but both wheels are of equal importance to cover distance at a good speed. Missing one of them or having an imbalance in emphasis between the two might get us somewhere, but not very far! The frame keeps the wheels apart, yet firmly connected at the same time (just like the Old and New Testaments).
In our parable, unicycles refer to riders who pay attention to the New Testament only. Penny-farthing riders refer to those who will incorporate some of the Old Testament scriptures in their Sunday readings but not their symbolic depths. For example, 'the rituals and details of the Tabernacle of Moses were just a shadow of heavenly things. They serve at a place that is a pattern, a shadow of what is in heaven. When Moses was about to make the tent God warned him, "Be sure to make everything based on the plan I showed you on the mountain" '(Hebrews 8:5, God's Word translation).
Maintaining both wheels active and in motion provides gyroscopic stability. In this parable the Holy Spirit adds energy to our pedals and provides personal guidance to our destination, like the handle bars on a bicycle. The illuminated and imminent word of God is the head lamp necessary for our journey.
As we enter into the end times our pilgrimage is in a darkened world with false teachers abounding, some backed by polished organizations and in a particular case even headed by a self-proclaimed Messiah claiming to be the reincarnation of Christ . Her utterances have produced a book, "The Word Appears in the Flesh", that is treated more relevant than the Bible for modern times in "The Church of Almighty God" (which has millions of mostly female followers). May the Lord deliver us from such and open our eyes!
'For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and produce great signs and omens, to lead astray if possible, even the elect' (Matthew 24:24). 'Indeed, you are my lamp, O LORD, the LORD lightens my darkness' (2 Samuel 22:29). 'Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path' (Psalm 119:105).
Another important aspect of the bicycle parable is that both wheels rotate at the same speed. This becomes important when we compare the length of the Creation Week with that of the Redemptive Week that we shall talk about later. What it means is that the duration of the Creation Week and the Redemptive Weeks is the same. We who live towards the end of world-history desperately need to possess that which God has provided for us in Him, 'as a plan for the fullness of time, to gather up all things in Him, things in heaven and things on earth' (Ephesians 1:10). When Jesus explained the Christ to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, Jesus used the Old Testament. The New Testament writings did not yet exist! Jesus and His works are hidden in the Old Testament as also are the time-frames of the Creation and of world history.
How are we to understand the books of Hebrews and Revelations if we know nothing about the Tabernacle or the Temple of Solomon, etc? Both books contain 'temple language' and temple references. It is Paul the apostle who was frustrated that the Corinthian church fed only on the milk of the word and not its meat! 'For everyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is unskilled in the word of righteousness' (Hebrews 5:13).
Before the Law came through Moses everything before was by grace. I am not suggesting in the least that we return to the Law, but I am suggesting that there are precious gems or signposts hidden in the Old Testament. As the adage says, 'The New is in the Old Concealed, the Old is in the New Revealed'.
Ignoring the prophetic framework which God has placed into the measures of the temples, the Feasts of Israel, biblical numerology, and other themes has caused standard creationists to go seriously astray!
Moses was strictly warned not to deviate from the pattern he was given in Median, Arabia, when he received the commandments on the mount. The commandments were much more than just the 10 commandments we associate with the giving of the Law. Hidden amongst the instructions were reference points for what a 'day' meant during the week of creation.
'In accordance with all that I show you, concerning the pattern of the tabernacle and of all it's furniture, so you shall make it' (Exodus 25:9).
'And see that you make them according to the pattern for them, which is being shown you on the mountain' (Exodus 25:40).
WHY GOD MADE DEATH THREATS CONCERNING HIS PATTERNS
Failure to obey usually carried the death penalty in God's eyes. Aaron's sons and Korah's followers were struck dead by the Lord when they brought their own ideas to the Tabernacle.
Strict adherence to detail was demanded by God for a very good reason. God was hiding times and seasons in everything that was constructed by Moses, and later by Solomon, and in those priestly functions that were ritually carried out word for word by the nation of Israel. The prophetic time-frame for the jigsaw puzzle revealing clues to the true age and the destiny of the Earth is hidden in them. The three major feasts (Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles), the 7-year cycles of sabbaths and the 50-year cycles of jubilees, were all prophetic of world events to come at precise moments to the Christian church in time. The time to discover these hidden secrets has arrived.
'It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out'

TREASURES HIDDEN IN GOD'S PATTERNS
I have considered the true age of the Earth in 15 sequential articles (see top Menu) that encompass the whole word of God, instead of only considering Genesis Chapters 1 and 2 which have been treated superficially by mainstream evangelical Christianity. We note from the Scripture that the apostle Paul commended the Christians in Berea of Macedonia because they explored the scriptures to see whether what Paul said was in fact true.
