The Prophetic Walk of Jesus
The 17th century Irish Archbishop James Ussher demonstrated a 4000-year history of the world (4 prophetic days, previous article) from the moment that Adam committed sin to the time of Jesus. This gives a time span almost 6000 years to the present day. Six prophetic days of God’s work to redeem mankind and an accursed world. The rapidly approaching Millennium is a 1000-year period of rest for believers in the presence of Jesus (Revelation 20:4-7). The Millennium is the 7th prophetic day of God’s Redemptive Week. During the last 6000 years God has been patiently redeeming the world through blood sacrifices which He initiated by providing fresh skins to clothe Adam and Eve before He evicted them from the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:21).
The so-called Redemptive Week is God’s restoration of His fallen creation. One prophetic week to create and one prophetic week to redeem - each week comprising six days of work followed by one day of rest (Exodus 20:11). The Lord is a God of patterns. The three mandatory Feasts of Isreal, and their complex appointed days of celebration are built on a strict pattern of 7’s, as in the Weeks mentioned. In the days of Moses God introduced a sacred, or ecclesiastical calendar which was 180 degrees out of phase with the civil calendar (Exodus 12:2). Although the civil calendar consisted of 12 months, the sacred calendar contained only 7. The 7th month in the civil calendar, Abib, was deemed to be the first month, Nisan, of the sacred calendar. From these patterns and the rich symbolism embedded in the Tabernacle of Moses and the Temple of Solomon, I have been able to deduce much about end times. My revelations in the word are sprinkled throughout my articles.
Once the 1000-year-long Millennium is completed at the end of the Earth’s lifetime, the Father will not recognize anyone not in Christ. Anyone outside of Christ (1Corinthians 3:11) shall be in the Lake of Fire in everlasting torment and forgotten by God. A terrifying thought about some of our former friends. What I am glad about is that there are degrees of punishment in hell just as there are three categories of rewards in heaven. I would be distressed if a relative of mine was put in a fiery cell next to the likes of Hitler or Pol Pot. Jesus told Pilate that he that betrayed Me has the greater sin (John 19:11). Many of Yeshua’s sayings confirm that there are degrees of reward. Some Christians who buried their talents will be surprised that their rooms will be dimly lit and less than lavish.
Genesis does not spell out how long Adam and Eve lived before they were tempted. Ussher’s chronology assumed that Adam and Eve fell into only a few solar days after they were created. But that is not the case (End Times: A Scriptural Account, C Pallaghy PhD, Bookside Press, Toronto 2023).
As the Lord has also done with our DNA, our ‘Book of Life’, the Holy Spirit packed everything we ever needed to know into the Bible. Students graduating from theological colleges only know the Bible superficially. That’s sufficient to pastor a congregation. Anyone desiring to mentor church leaderships needs to have the gifted Office of Pastor or higher (Ephesians 4:11-13). They need to have spent their life in the depths of the Word,
“…. And the Twelve called near the multitude of the disciples and said, It is not pleasing to us, leaving the Word of God, to serve tables. Therefore, brothers, look out among you seven men being witnessed to, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this duty. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the Word” (Acts 6:1-4).
“Study earnestly to present yourself approved to God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth” (2Timothy 2:15).
This is precisely why the apostle laid hands on his young protégé Timothy and imparted the gift of interpreting the Word correctly. “Do not neglect the gift in you, which was given you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the body of elders” (1Timothy 4:14). “Therefore, I remind you to inflame anew the gift of God, which is in you by the putting on of my hands” (2Timothy 1:6).
Having first appreciated prophetic language somewhat, let’s look into the prophetic walk of Jesus. He obeyed every command of the Father (John 5:30). He did nothing of his own initiative. Jesus said that the Father is greater than He. His every word and move were significant. That’s why Jesus/Yeshua spent much time in prayer. The Father made Him do strange things. This article examines two of them.
Why did Jesus specifically spend two days in the village of the Samaritan woman whom He met at the well by divine appointment? Numbers are very important in Scripture. A superficial, but correct answer, is that He wanted to preach the gospel to people who were keener to hear his message than the Jews. The Samaritans were Gentiles ever since the time the Assyrians displaced the ten northern tribes of Israel. Jews were not allowed to talk to them, “And on this, His disciples came and marveled that He was speaking with a woman. However, no one said, What do You seek? Or, Why do You speak with her?” (John 4:27).
Not only was her village keen to hear Jesus, but they believed on Him, “So when the Samaritans came unto him, they besought him to abide with them: and he abode there two days. And many more believed because of his word; and they said to the woman, Now we believe, not because of your speaking: for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world. And after the two days he went forth from there into Galilee” (John 4:39-43).
Next, we could ask why Jesus deliberately delayed four days before coming to Bethany to resurrect Lazarus? The correct answer is to irrefutably prove, for all time, that He was going to resurrect a dead man. Martha said, “BUT LORD, HE HAS BEEN IN THE TOMB FOR FOUR DAYS AND BY THIS TIME HIS BODY WILL STINK”. That is, of course, exactly what Jesus wanted everyone to hear!
Now take note of the prophetic significance of His walks: Four days to minister dramatically to the Jews before His crucifixion and two days to captivate the Gentiles with His preaching. Isn’t that exactly the world’s redemptive chronology (timetable)? Four prophetic days (4000 years) from Adam to Jesus ministering the Law which ministered death by increasing our knowledge of sin (Romans Chapter 7) and two prophetic days (2000 years) to minister to the Gentiles; The Christian era ever since AD 32 (the so-called Times of the Gentiles). The 7th prophetic day of rest is the 1000-year Millennium.
This fulfils the Law. As Jesus said, He did not come to destroy the Law but to fulfil every jot and title of the law. For six days shall work be done but the 7th day must be reserved as a day of rest. The 7th day was most holy to the Lord. He commanded Moses to have the old man killed who collected only a little firewood on the Sabbath (Exodus 35:2,3). This man knew very well that he was committing a presumptuous sin for which the penalty was death.
Isn’t it comforting to hear the difference between Law and Grace, and to hear a scriptural argument for the timing of the end times? “The law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers” (1 Timothy 1:9). I shall reveal more independent evidence for a predetermined 2000 years for the length of the Christian era in future articles.
Knowing that the end is approaching rapidly we can lay aside our worldly problems. We ought to pay more attention to the Bible. We ought to give special honour to those who have sacrificed their lives and finances to concentrate on the Word of God. Finally, “Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially those who labour in Word and doctrine” (2Timothy 5:17). Seeing what is happening at an accelerated rate in the world what is the Lord requiring of us in these critical days? Are we teachable Christians?
